Transformation of an industrial space to a loft

( description )
The project involves transforming an existing industrial space into an open plan loft designed to accommodate a six member family. In keeping with the original character of the structure, key raw materials such as metal, glass, exposed concrete and a polished-concrete (béton ciré) flooring are preserved and highlighted.

Wood, as a warmer, more inviting material, is introduced strategically to balance the ruggedness of the industrial elements. It wraps around much of the vertical surfaces, creating a continuous perimeter screen behind which the private living areas are discreetly arranged.

This wooden enclosure frames the communal hub while concealing bedrooms and intimate zones, fostering a sense of warmth and homeliness without disrupting the loft’s cohesive, open spatial character.
