Flooring Around Hotel BAR and Breakfast Room

( description )
Situated in the vibrant center of Athens, Evripidis Hotel is housed in a 1970s building with clear references to the modernist era. As is characteristic of the city, the dialogue between antiquity and modernity is naturally embedded in the setting -underscored by the uninterrupted view of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, a powerful reminder of the past informing the future. Fluo was commissioned to redesign the building’s upper floor to accommodate a dual function: a bar and breakfast lounge. The material palette was led by marble -deeply rooted in the architectural identity of Athens- complemented by expressive tiles and warm wooden planks. These materials intersect in a fragmented composition, forming a geometric patchwork that divides the space into dynamic triangular zones. The entire composition unfolds as a tactile patchwork of shapes and materials -an architectural reflection of the city itself, where ancient ruins, neoclassical remnants, and contemporary structures coexist. This layered aesthetic becomes a spatial narrative of modern Athens.

A glass partition running along the terrace forms a light-filled sunroom that appears to hover above the cityscape. This transparent boundary frames panoramic views, enhancing the rooftop’s immersive connection with its surroundings.

At the heart of the space, a central water fountain draws inspiration from ancient Greek springs, while simultaneously eliminating the need for plastic bottles—bridging symbolism with sustainable practice.
