70’s apartment transformation in Pagrati

( description )
Our latest project is the renovation of a typical 1970s apartment in Pagrati, Athens—a neighborhood rich in history and evolving urban character. The original layout was fragmented: a series of small rooms, layered floorings, and wallpapers covering nearly every wall. Our approach focused on restoration and unification. The old flooring was preserved where possible, while the overall plan was opened up to allow for more fluid, contemporary living. Ample storage was integrated to enhance daily living, while large openings connect the interior to the generous terrace—an urban oasis that offers a sense of escape and an immediate connection to nature. The result is a home that balances past and future, engaging in a quiet yet intentional dialogue with Kallimarmaro, the vibrant streets of Pagrati and the evolving identity of its surroundings.

In the new kitchen area, we designed a custom terrazzo floor made with black cobbles set in white cement—a deliberate material contrast that harmonizes with the apartment’s existing green Tinos marble in the living room. Structural elements were left exposed, adding raw texture to the space and forming a dialogue with the sculptural, color-forward kitchen design that visually anchors the interior.

The rest of the apartment follows the same conceptual thread, with a palette of green and burgundy red creating moments of contrast and cohesion throughout. Original elements, such as the old interior doors and a marble sink from the previous main bathroom, were thoughtfully reused, grounding the renovation in the apartment’s past.
