Transformation of an industrial space to a loft

( description )

This project revolves around the transformation of an industrial space into an open-plan loft designed to accommodate a family of six. The design embraces the raw beauty of industrial materials, with metal, glass, and raw cement forming the backbone of the structure, while colored micro cement on the floors enhances the uniformity of the space. The existing glass dome, a striking architectural feature, serves as the focal point around which all functions are organized, creating a dynamic interplay between openness and intimacy.

A seamless, minimalistic floor extends throughout the open-plan layout, unifying diverse living functions while maintaining a sense of spatial fluidity. This uninterrupted flow is only gently broken in the private rooms, where a distinct flooring treatment subtly delineates personal spaces from shared areas. This careful balance between openness and privacy ensures both connectivity and retreat within the home.
The choice of materials plays a crucial role in defining the atmosphere of the loft. The raw textures of cement, glass, and metal emphasize the industrial character of the space, staying true to its origins. At the same time, the warmth of natural wood elements introduces a sense of coziness and familiarity, softening the overall aesthetic and making the loft a true family home.
